I felt like the caterpillar in my son’s favorite bedtime story at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market today.
I did my aminos in the morning, had my green shake during a Mar Vista historical walking tour, then hit the farmer’s market. It was torture. Gorgeous foods all around me and I was starting to feel peckish. The samples were calling my name.
It started with an apple slice, then a peach bite made it’s way into my mouth. The mixed organic grapes seduced me with their sweet, sweet nectar. The homemade almond mylk taste rocked my world. Salted cucumber slices ended the food orgy.
I resisted the citrus tray, the buckets of berries and the delectable dates.
I did purchase squash for feasting on tonite. And a big glass bottle of Mylk.
I ended up at Maggie’s Farm. Slightly defeated because I mixed a few flex foods in one sitting, but proud that I had done my Sunday ritual with only a slight setback. As I described last night’s 5 leaf kale dinner to Nate the farmer, a dear friend of mine, I considered nibbling on the arugula, but my belly was full and I didn’t need the extra leaves.
The rest of the day went by fast.
We visited an adorable Mr. Bones pumpkin patch and checked out a haunted house in our ‘hood. Z. (my husband) cooked up the most delicious organic squash in coconut oil with backyard herbs and fancy sea salt. I never imagined that we could have such a delightful family dinner at home during this cleanse! Tiny, but mighty.
Perhaps this is the beginning of my own metamorphosis.
